Sweet Box
Choco pie wrappers, pigment powder, resin, and oil on canvas
81.2 cm x 101.6 cm each (31.9 x 40 in)
2024

Sweet Box explores the Korean concept of affection (jeong 정情), through a symbolic Choco Pie jeong (정情). A box of 12 pies is typically bought and shared with close ones, turning a simple snack into an act of care and connection. Buying Choco Pies is seen as a way of sharing affection, and the brand has commercialized the concept, making choco Pies one of the symbols of affection: jeong (정情) in Korean society.

홍연 紅緣 Tied by Red
Oil on canvas
80 cm x 100 cm (31.4 x 39.3 in)
2024

홍연 紅緣 Tied by Red is the first piece in the Yeon緣 series and focuses on the theme of romantic relationships. Inspired from the saying, “Destinies are tied by red threads,” the work offers a new interpretation of this idea. Rather than depicting a single thread connecting two people, the piece reflects the artist’s belief that relationships are formed through encounters with many people, where threads break, knot, and intertwine over time.

스쳐가는 인연들에 대하여 Passing Encounters
Oil on canvas
81.2 cm x 101.6 cm (31.9 x 40 in)
2024

Among the countless encounters we have, most quietly fade into distant memories, barely leaving a mark. Yet, some endure, weaving through our past, present, and even future. Whether they are destined bonds, momentary coincidences, or challenging relationships, when we pause to reflect on all these connections, we start to see a beauty we may not have noticed before—a quiet, profound sense of affection: jeong (정情) shared between us.

This work is an exploration of those threads, a way to rediscover the meaning and beauty hidden in the connections that shape our lives.
